Safeguarding-trained security professionals who create safe learning environments for students, staff, and visitors.
Security for the Education & School Sector
The safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within educational settings is a paramount concern for school leaders, governors, and parents alike. Schools, colleges, and universities face a wide range of security challenges, from unauthorised visitors and intruders to bullying, county lines exploitation, and the ever-present need to comply with Ofsted safeguarding requirements. Creating a secure environment that is conducive to learning requires a thoughtful, sensitive approach that balances visible protection with a welcoming, non-threatening atmosphere.
Recent years have seen a heightened focus on school security following a number of high-profile incidents across the country. The Department for Education guidance on school security is clear in its expectations that schools must have robust procedures for managing access, responding to emergencies, and protecting the welfare of children and young people. For multi-academy trusts and local authorities responsible for multiple sites, maintaining consistent security standards across all establishments presents an additional layer of complexity.
Site Safe Security provides specialist education security services delivered by officers who are DBS-checked to enhanced level and trained in safeguarding, child protection, and the unique sensitivities of working in educational environments. Our officers understand that their role is not simply to guard but to contribute positively to the school community, building rapport with students and staff whilst maintaining an unwavering focus on safety.

Key Security Challenges
Student Safety & Safeguarding
Safeguarding children and young people is the highest priority in any educational setting. From preventing unauthorised individuals from accessing school grounds to identifying signs of abuse, exploitation, or radicalisation, our officers are trained to the same safeguarding standards as school staff. They understand referral procedures and work closely with designated safeguarding leads.
Unauthorised Visitors & Intruders
Schools must prevent unauthorised access whilst remaining open and welcoming to legitimate visitors, parents, and community users. Our officers manage reception areas and entry points, operating visitor management systems, verifying identities, and ensuring every person on site has a legitimate reason to be there and is appropriately supervised.
Anti-Social Behaviour & External Threats
Schools can be affected by anti-social behaviour in surrounding areas, including drug dealing near school gates, intimidation of students, and gang-related activity. Our officers provide a visible, reassuring presence at arrival and departure times, patrol perimeters, and liaise with local police community support officers to address persistent issues.
Emergency Lockdown & Evacuation
Educational establishments must be prepared to implement lockdown or evacuation procedures at short notice. Our security officers are trained in lockdown protocols and work with school leadership to develop, test, and refine emergency response plans. During a genuine incident, our officers provide calm, authoritative direction to ensure the safety of everyone on site.
Our Approach
Site Safe Security recognises that security within educational settings demands a uniquely sensitive approach. Our officers are selected not only for their security expertise but for their ability to interact positively with children, young people, and the wider school community. Every officer deployed to an educational setting holds an enhanced DBS check, has completed Level 3 safeguarding training, and understands the values and expectations of working within a school or college environment.
We work in close partnership with school leadership teams to develop security solutions that complement existing safeguarding policies and procedures. Our services range from permanent on-site security officers and reception management to ad hoc support for open evenings, parents' evenings, and school events. We provide regular reporting on security observations, access control data, and any safeguarding concerns, ensuring school leaders have the information they need to fulfil their duty of care.
